Emory Women's Soccer Blanked by #1 Chicago

The Emory University Women's Soccer team fell to top-ranked University of Chicago in University Athletic Association action Saturday afternoon in Chicago, IL. The Maroons netted two goals in both halves to upend the Eagles 4-0 on a brisk, windy afternoon.

Emory played UC tough for most of the opening half before Katie Jasminksi broke the scoring open in the 36th minute, finishing a breakaway into the top left corner. Chicago added another goal in the 42nd minute as Emory defensive miscue led to an own goal.

Madori Spiker increased the Maroons lead to 3-0 in the 55th minute with Cargile Whitley collecting the assist. Chicago added another goal in the 60th minute to provide the 4-0 final margin as Jenna McKinney finished from point blank range on Mia Calamari's second assist of the afternoon.

Chicago outshot the Eagles 19-5 in the game including a 10-2 margin in shots on goal. Senior Melissa Ardizzone and junior Abbe McCarter registered the shots on target for Emory.

The Eagles, sitting at 0-2 in UAA play, returns to Atlanta for a pair of conference games next weekend, playing host to NYU on Friday night before taking on Brandeis University Sunday afternoon.
