Senior Elyse Thompson's solid defensive play helped the No. 2-ranked Eagles' volleyball team to a 3-0 record at the Emory National Invitational.
The 5-foot-7 Thompson averaged a team-high 4.08 digs over 12 sets of action from her libero post, which aided Emory in limiting its three opponents to a .221 hitting mark.
Thompson topped the Eagles with 17 digs in a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind win over Wittenberg, and then closed out the Invitational with a match-high 24 digs and a pair of service aces in 3-1 triumph over Washington and Lee. Her performance against the Generals represented her ninth outing of the campaign with 20 or more digs.
On the year, Thompson is averaging 4.52 digs per set, good for the No. 5 position on the UAA ladder.
