Dani Bland Advances to Finals in 60m & 200m on Day One of NCAA Indoor Championships

Senior Dani Bland advanced to the finals in both the 60m and 200m Dashes to highlight the Emory University Track and Field teams at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships. This year’s championship meet is being hosted by UMass-Boston at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center in Roxbury, MA.

Bland turned in a personal-best time in the 60m Dash prelims as she finished fifth overall at 7.67. Her time was the second fastest ever in program history and just .06 shy of Debora Adjibaba’s school record time of 7.61. Later in the evening, Bland made the eight-person cut in the 200m as she placed eighth in prelims with a season-best time of 25.28.

The finals of the 60m Dash is set to start at 2:10pm on Saturday with the finals of the 200m Dash to begin at 4:15pm. Fans can watch both event finals here: https://www.ncaa.com/event/trackfield-indoor-men/d3/2019/03/09/men-s---women-s-indoor-track---field-championship--day-two.

In the 60m Hurdles prelims, senior Dilys Osei turned in a personal-best time of 8.90, third fastest time recorded in school history, but narrowly missed the cut as she finished tied for 10th place. Osei also competed in the prelims of the 200m Dash, finishing 15th at 25.47.

Senior Kayla O’Shea competed on Friday in the Mile, finishing 16th overall at 5:09.80 and in the 400m Dash, sophomore Liam Fost came in 11th as he posted a preliminary time of 48.91.

Freshman Brett Henshey rounded out the Emory performers on Friday as he represented the Eagles in the High Jump. Henshey cleared 1.92m in his first go-around but could not clear 1.97m in his three attempts in round two as he finished tied for 17th overall.
