Sophomore Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico headlined three Eagles in action Friday afternoon as the NCAA Division III Individual Championships kicked off in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Gonzalez-Rico won a pair of singles matches to begin the day as she advanced to the quarterfinal round of the singles draw. Gonzalez-Rico picked up a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Middlebury's Katherine Hughes in the opening round before beating Pomona-Pitzer's Maria Lyven by a 6-2, 6-0 count in the second round.

Gonzalez-Rico will meet John Carroll's Lauren O'Malley in the quarterfinals at 9:00 AM Saturday morning in a rematch of the fall's ITA Division III national championship.

Gonzalez-Rico rounded out the day's slate of matches as she teamed with classmate Defne Olcay to record the 6-1, 6-3 decision over Tufts' Maggie Dorr and Caroline Garrido in the first round of the doubles tournament. The Eagles duo will meet Middlebury's Hughes and Skylar Schossberger tomorrow at 3:00 PM in the quarterfinal round. In addition, the first round win cemented Olcay as a first-time All-American.

Senior Daniela Lopez also took to the courts on Friday as she fell in the first round of the singles draw, dropping a closely contested three-setter to Wesleyan's Venia Yeung 6-3, 3-6, 2-6.
