Emory University senior Zahra Dawson won both of her singles and doubles matches during a pair of victories for the second-ranked Eagles against nationally-ranked opponents last week. On Thursday’s 9-0 win against the 16th-ranked University of the South, Dawson teamed with Gabrielle Clark in the first doubles match to claim an 8-1 win over the region’s fifth-ranked pairing, and won her third singles match 7-5, 6-3. During a 9-0 win over 10th-ranked DePauw on Saturday, the senior earned another 8-1 win in the first doubles match, this time against the Central Region’s fourth-ranked duo, and claimed a 6-3, 6-2 third-singles victory. Dawson (ranked first in the Atlantic South Region in doubles play and 22nd in singles) improved to 17-4 in doubles and 10-5 in singles matches this season, in addition to moving into second in school history for career wins in doubles, and third in singles. Dawson and the Eagles have won 10 of their last 11 matches to improve to 10-3 on the season.
