Senior Adam Gigax paced the Emory men's basketball team in scoring in helping the Eagles to a pair of victories.
The 6-foot-7 Gigax averaged 20.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as Emory came away with an 88-82 triumph over Oglethorpe University, followed by an 80-62 outcome over No. 22 Rochester. He shot 45.9 percent (17-37) over the two contests as the Eagles raised their overall record to 10-2 (1-0 UAA).
Gigax led all players with a season-high 24 points (second 20-point game of the year), sinking 10-of-21 field goal opportunities, and was No. 2 on the club with seven boards in the Oglethorpe victory. He followed that with a game-high 17 points and six rebounds in the verdict over Rochester, converting seven field goals in 16 tries, including three triples.
Through games played Jan. 6, Gigax has started all 11 of his appearances and is No. 2 on the team in scoring with a 16.5 points per game average, good for sixth place on the UAA ladder. He has knocked down two or more three-pointers in all 11 contests and his 42.2 percent (35-83) showing from beyond the arc is seventh among UAA cagers.
