Emory Golf Winds Up Play At NCAA D-III Championships

The Emory University golf team closed out its participation at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday.  The Eagles played their second round on the 6,897-yard, par-72 Keene Run Course at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

Emory shot a second-day score of 15-over par 303 to finish with a final mark of 624.  The Eagles finished 23rd out the 42 teams that began nationals and fell short of qualifying for the final two rounds, with the field being cut to 18 squads for the final 36 holes of competition.

Junior Sam Galloway paced the team's effort during the second round carding an even-par 72 which represented the best score by an Emory player at the tourney. Freshman Logan Ryan turned in a six-over par 78 while senior Connor Yakubov and junior Matt Organisak rounded out the team's scoring efforts with each player finishing at 78.  Sophomore Eric Yiu, who was the Eagles' top scorer on Tuesday, ended with a 79.

Yiu (76-79) and Galloway (83-72) ended as the team's top performers at 155 while Ryan finished at 156 (81-75).  Organisak (82-78) and Yakubov (82-78) both shot 160.

The team leader after two rounds is Illinois Wesleyan at two-over par 578 (287-291), four shots better than Guilford College.
