Sophomore Eric Yiu has been selected as the University Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week following his performances at the Savannah Harbor Classic and the UAA Championships. It is the first time this season that he has been honored by the league.
Yiu came through with a productive week that was highlighted by his selection as the MVP at the UAA Championships.
Yiu helped the Eagles to their fourth straight conference title by winning both of his match-play competitions, starting with a 5 & 4 decision over Rochester's Steven Zeng in the semifinals (4-1 Emory), followed by a 5&4 victory against Carnegie Mellon's Jason Folker in the finals (3-2, Emory).
Earlier in the week, Yiu tied with Sam Galloway as the team's top performer at the Savannah Harbor Classic, tying for 13th place in the 90-player field with a four-over par score of 148 (77-71).
The No. 1-ranked Emory golf team returns to action this Friday through Sunday (Mar. 15-17) when it competes at the 54-hole Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
