Freshman Mattie Ryan swung a big bat in the Emory softball team's split of a doubleheader vs. Maryville College.
Ryan hit .714 over the two games, delivering five safeties in seven at-bats. She also knocked in a pair of runs as the Eagles closed out the double dip with a record of 3-3.
After going 2-for-3 in the opening game, Ryan hit safely on three occasions in four plate appearances and collected a pair of ribbies in an 8-3 triumph. She accounted for the Eagles' initial score with a single in the top of the first that plated Cassie Baca, and then came through with a one-out double in the top of the seventh that helped jump-start a three-run frame.
On the year, Ryan is hitting .389 (7-for-18) and paces the club with three two-baggers.
