Representatives from the Emory men's tennis program finished off the opening day of action at the Grizzly Open late Friday evening.  Hosting the event is Georgia Gwinnett College.

A total of six Eagles headed to nearby Lawrenceville, Ga., to take part in the event that features a host of players from NCAA Division I, Division II and NAIA.

After all six players received opening-round byes in singles, two emerged victorious in the Round of 32.  Junior Alec Josepher defeated Toby de Klerk of Tusculum College, 6-3, 6-3, and will now meet Fabio Pereira of Reinhardt College on Saturday in the Round of 16.  Emory's other singles victor on Friday was freshman Rex Serituk, who topped Heorhil Kyzymenko of Bluefield, 6-4, 6-3.  Serituk's next foe will be Giles Hussey of Georgia State.

In doubles, the Eagle team of Josepher and freshman Daniel Shleimovich opened with an 8-4 victory over Point University's Kyle Howell and Alzono Trevizo on Friday before claiming an 8-6 victory Saturday morning over Ion Efrim and and Takura Miambo of Alabama State.  Josepher and Shleimovich will meet Georgia State's Valentin Horvat and Abhin Sharma in a Saturday afternoon quarterfinal match. Junior Max Renke and freshman Harry Shepherd blanked the Emmanuel College tandem of Dustin Dodson and Cody Norris, 8-0, on Friday but came out on the short end of a 5-8 outcome to Eduardo Garcia and Andreas Wejs of Eastern Florida on Saturday.
