Junior closer Kyle Monk appeared in three games for the Eagles at the Central Texas Tournament over the weekend and played a crucial part in Emory's two wins on the first day of the tournament. On Friday, Monk escaped a nearly impossible jam with the bases loaded, no outs and a 2-0 count in the seventh inning to preserve a 1-0 Emory lead. In the second game of the day, Monk came on to record the final out of the game, stopping the Pacific (Ore.) rally. It was Monk's first save of the season and with that became the all-time leader in school history with his 19th of his career.
