The Emory University baseball team fell 11-7 to Methodist University in the second game of their doubleheader on Saturday, splitting the two games in Fayetteville, NC.
In the loss, Emory catcher Jared Welch went one-for-four with two runs scored and an RBI, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. Daniel Iturrey and Kevin O'Connor each added a pair of hits in the game.
After the Eagles took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth, the team's first lead of the game, Methodist scored eight unanswered runs over the next two innings to secure the game.
Ben Hinojosa took the loss for Emory, falling to 4-3 on the season. Andrew Womble earned the win for the Monarchs to improve to 2-4.
Emory dropped to 23-11 on the season, while Methodist now stands at 22-19. The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, April 25th at 7:00 PM at LaGrange College.
