The Emory University women's soccer team saw five players recognized with end-of-season honors as the University Athletic Association released its All-Association Teams Monday morning.
Junior Michelle Davidson headlined the selections as she was one of three Eagles named to the First Team and was honored as the UAA's Defensive Player of the Year – the first Eagle to receive the honor since the league began announcing separate awards for offense and defense in 2019. Davidson becomes the sixth player in program history to earn MVP honors and first since Kylie Hall was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Year in 2022.
Joining Davidson on the First Team was senior midfielder Chayse Corfman and sophomore forward Kaitlyn Nimmer. In addition, senior Claudia Schmidt and freshman Mikayla Camp were chosen as Honorable Mention.
Davidson steered an Emory defense that held opponents to 10 goals through 17 regular season games, including nine shutouts, before adding two more shutouts in the opening rounds of the NCAA tournament. Davidson played all 90 minutes on eight different occasions and led the Eagles to three clean sheets inside conference play. As a unit, Emory ranked 29th in the nation in goals-against average at 0.556. The Eagles have allowed more than one goal on just two occasions through 19 games. On the offensive end, Davidson has two goals and one assist for five points and was tabbed the UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week once in mid-October.
As a follow up to her UAA Rookie of the Year campaign, Nimmer has put forth one of the strongest offensive seasons by an Eagle in recent history. Through 19 appearances, she leads the team in every offensive category with 11 goals, eight assists for 30 points and has four game-winning goals. She was the conference leader with 4.56 shots per game and 2.39 shots on goal per game, compiling 88 shots and 46 shots on goal. With her game-winning goal against Pacific Lutheran, she became the 10th player in program history to reach the 30-point mark in a season and is the first Eagle since 2007 to have double-digit goals scored.
In a triumphant return to the field after missing her junior season due to injury, Corfman earns her first-ever All-UAA recognition after starting all 19 games for the Eagles – representing a new career-high in both games played and games started. Her work in the midfield has helped Emory outscore opponents 50-10 this season, with her collecting her first assists of her career against WashU, Oglethorpe and Methodist.
Schmidt garners her first appearance on the All-Association team with Honorable Mention status after starting a career-high 18 games as a senior. Schmidt was second amongst field players in minutes played as she contributed to Emory's lockdown defense all season. On the offensive end, she contributed nine shots, four on frame, to go along with assists in non-conference wins over Berry and Guilford.
Camp rounds out the Emory contingent with All-UAA acclaim, earning Honorable Mention recognition following a strong rookie season where currently ranks fourth in freshmen single season scoring in program history with her 25 points (9G, 7A). Camp recorded at least one point in 11 games and was tabbed as the UAA Offensive Player of the Week after notching a hat trick in her third-ever game against Berry. In UAA play, she posted one goal and three assists and had the game-winning goal in a road win at Brandeis.
The Eagles are headed to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament for the second time in three seasons, and 12th time overall in program history. Emory is set to face Loras College on Saturday in Dubuque, Iowa.
