December 4, 2016 Three School Records Fall on Day Three; Wilson Sets DIII Mark in 200 Breast The Emory University Men’s Swimming and Diving team concluded its three days of swimming at the Miami and SCAD Invitationals on Saturday night. The Eagles came in second place at the Miami Invite and were third at the SCAD Invitational.
December 4, 2016 Eagles Finish Second at Miami/SCAD Invites; Cheng Breaks 200 Back Record The Emory University Women’s Swimming and Diving team wrapped up their three-day stretch of competition at the Miami and SCAD Invitationals on Saturday night, taking home second place at both meets.

Wilson set three individual Division III records and set two more DIII records in a pair of relays to help Emory to a second place finish at the meet. Individually, Wilson posted times of 1:45.57 in the 200 IM, 51.14 in the 100 Breast and 1:51.15 in the 200 Breast, winning each event. He swam the breaststroke leg in both the 200 and Medley Relays, helping both relays record times of 1:26.74 and 3:13.00. Read More

Cindy ChengWomen's Swimming & Diving Junior Cindy Cheng had an impressive Miami Invitational this past weekend as the junior recorded six NCAA "B" Cut times, one NCAA "A" Cut time and set a school record to help the Eagles to second place finish at the meet. Cheng set the school record in the 200 Back on Saturday, finishing first with a time of 1:57.26. She added NCAA "B" Cuts in the 500 Free (2nd, 4:51.85), 200 Free (2nd, 1:48.13), 400 Medley Relay (2nd, 3:44.39), 200 Medley Relay (3rd, 1:42.04), 800 Free Relay (1st, 7:22.08) and the 400 Free Relay (1st, 3:21.91). Cooper had first place finishes in the 400 IM (4:05.76) and 100 Fly (51.42) while finishing second in the 100 Back at 52.18. On Tuesday, Beall recorded a career-best five points with the first two-goal game of her career as Emory shutout Division II Brevard College 5-0. Beall added an assist on Emory's game-tying goal in the 76th minute against NYU on Sunday, helping the Eagles to their second straight 1-1 tie against a UAA foe. Jordan DoakWomen's Soccer Sophomore Jordan Doak helped the Emory defense limit opposing teams to just two goals and an average of 8.6 shots per game as the Eagles went 1-0-2 this past week. On the offensive end, Doak registered a career-best three points including the first tally of her career as Emory blanked Division II Brevard College 5-0 on Tuesday night and over the weekend, she finished with six shots with a career-high four shots on goal at NYU on Sunday. Jackson WeegBaseball Junior LHP Jackson Weeg went 1-0 in two starts for the Eagles in the final week of the regular season, striking out 15 batters in 12 innings on the mound. Weeg improved to 7-0 on Tuesday with a masterful performance against Oglethorpe. He allowed an unearned run on three hits in seven innings of work and tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts. Melissa GoodmanWomen's Tennis Emory University sophomore Melissa Goodman was undefeated in three third-singles matches and a pair of doubles contests, helping lead the second-ranked Eagles to their 26th University Athletic Association Championship. During Thursday’s 9-0 quarterfinal victory over New York University, Goodman picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win against Laila El Dessouki. She earned a pair of wins in the team’s 9-0 victory over the 15th-ranked University of Chicago on Friday, guiding the Eagles to the conference championship match with at 8-1 win at third doubles with Rebecca Seigler over Sruthi Ramaswami and Lucy Tang, and a 6-1, 6-0 singles with over Jasmine Lee. Goodman capped off her weekend with a 9-8 (4) win over Nicholle Torres and Brooke Tsu at third doubles, and a 6-3, 6-4 singles win over Torres, as Emory defeated seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University 7-2 on Saturday. She improved to 14-4 overall in singles play this year (including a 6-0 mark as Emory’s no. 3 singles player) and to 17-5 in doubles action. Wilson MorganBaseball Emory University sophomore outfielder Wilson Morgan hit a team-best .571 during the Eagles’ four games last week. Morgan led all Emory players with eight hits in 14 at bats, five runs batted in and four walks, finishing the week with a .667 on base percentage. He also scored three runs and stole a base. During Tuesday’s 10-5 win against LaGrange, the left-handed hitter batted sixth and went two-for-five with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Again batting sixth during the Eagles’ 8-3 loss at Piedmont College on Thursday, he went two-for-two with a pair of walks. Morgan was moved into the clean-up spot on Friday, helping lead Emory to a 9-8 win over Piedmont at home, going three-for-four with two runs, two RBIs and a walk. He wrapped-up the week and the regular season with a one-for-three performance, including a walk and an RBI, in a 6-4 victory against Piedmont on Saturday. Morgan is now batting .368 this season with 12 runs scored, 20 runs batted in and six stolen bases, along with a .435 on base percentage. Kyle MonkBaseball Emory University sophomore Kyle Monk pitched out of the bullpen in three of Emory’s four games during the week, going 1-0 with a pair of saves. Monk allowed just two earned runs and six hits in 4.2 innings of work, while striking out four batters and walking one. He picked up the win during Tuesday’s 10-5 victory against LaGrange, pitching the final 1.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk, while striking out one. On Friday, he earned a save against Piedmont College, closing out the game by pitching the final 2.1 innings, surrendering a pair of runs on four hits and striking out three without issuing a walk. Monk earned his second save of the week, getting the final two outs of the game without allowing a baserunner. He improved to 3-1 on the season with nine saves and a 2.70 ERA. Monk’s nine saves this year are the second-most in the program’s history, while his 17 career saves are one short of the program record. The Eagles ended the regular season with a 26-12 record.
